Dreidel is a traditional game played durning Hanukkah. A dreidel is usually made out of wood or clay. .

There are four sides to the dreidel and each side has a symbol. The sides of the dreidel are nun, gimel, hay and shin.

To start the game each player has game pieces that can be pennies, nuts, raisins, or gelt. Gelt is the Yiddish word for money. Most children play for gold gelt coins that are made of chocolate.

Each player will put one game piece in the center called the pot. Each player will take turns spinning the dreidel and will do what the symbol says.
If you find that you have no game pieces left, you are either “out” or may ask a fellow player for a “loan.” When one person has won everything, that round of the game is over!
