Once upon a time in the small town of Holland, Michigan lived a boy named Oliver. It happened to be Oliver’s favorite time of year, Christmas time.

Today was Christmas Eve but Oliver had been preparing for Christmas for the last few weeks. He wrote the longest list, including the newest nerf gun and a set of legos he had been wanting for the past few months.

He had baked reindeer shaped cookies to leave out along with milk which he poured into the tallest glass he could find in order to satisfy Santa.

His mom had hung up Oliver’s stocking and it was ready to be filled to the top with goodies, Oliver was an only child so he was spoiled when it came to Christmas.

It was 10:00 and Oliver was getting tucked into bed by his mother. She read him a christmas story, gave him a kiss on the forehead and left him to dream. But there was one problem; Oliver couldn’t fall asleep. He tried his hardest but he was just too excited, he wanted it to be morning already.

That’s when Oliver had an interesting idea; what if he stayed up and waited for santa? He could greet him at the fire place! Oliver thought this was the greatest idea he had ever had. He had to be quite, like a spy. He slowly untucked himself from his bed and walked downstairs to the living room with his favorite teddy bear in hand. He snuggled himself up on the couch and waited. 

He waited to hear the reindeer paws on the roof, that would be the first sign that Santa has arrived. He waited for what seemed like days, eventually he was just too tired and dozed off.
