Once upon a time, there lived a clever owl in a big brown tree. The owl loved to watch the view from above.  

He saw a little mouse scurry by.  The mouse was holding cheese and berries.

The mouse was running away from a mad lion. “Give me back my lunch!” yelled the lion.

Right as the lion tried to snatch the mouse, the mouse ran into a hole at the bottom of the owl’s tree.

Roaring, the lion reached for the mouse.  His sharp claws barely scraped the mouse’s tail, and his paw savagely hit the tree’s trunk.

The tree shook, and the owl fell to the ground.

The owl got back on his feet, brushed off his feathers, and saw, up close, the lion and mouse glaring at one another.  He wanted to help.

He said to the lion, “I know the mouse stole your lunch, but I am fairly sure he did not mean to.  Please calm down.”

The peaceful lion listened and put away his claws.
