
- Women and Flappers: Women were changing, they were gaining more freedoms. Not only that, they also went against the ¨acceptable¨ standards, they bobbed their hair, wore short skirts, smoked in public.

Prohibition: While women were changing, the US was also changing. Prohibition was where alcohol was prohibited from being sold. This caused more problems than it fixed. For example, Al Capone, was an American Mobster who grew an empire based around selling alcohol illegally.

The ¨Golden Age¨ of baseball, was in the 1920’s. In the 20’s, the most famous athlete in the United States was George Herman “Babe” Ruth.

Not only was Baseball making its way around the country, Boxing was too. At the time, Boxing became an internationally famous sport.

The 20’s was filled with joy and new changes, especially for African Americans living at the time. The Harlem Renaissance was considered the “Rebirth” of African American culture.

Jazz is just one example, during this time, Jazz became very popular among African American Culture, some Jazz Musicians were, Duke Ellington, and Willie “The Lion” Smith.

Movies in the 1920’s were big. During this time, the film industry was improving, in 1927, the new standard was “Sound-on-film.” This meant that sound was directly recorded onto the film rather than adding sound after filming.


In the 20’s, cars were becoming more and more relevant. Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler, became known as the “Big Three”
