Three mermaids lived at the bottom of the sea: Light, Caribbean and Star. They were sisters and belonged to a family of mermaid famous for their beauty and their kindness.

They lived with their parents in a beautiful reef near the coast of Cartagena. It was dangerous to leave their home because the sea was full of fishermen, divers and nets. Their parents always said "don’t be afraid of animals, they will protect you. Humans are dangerous, they like hunting mermaids".

One day, Light, who was a very curious mermaid, decided to explore and to find out what was on the surface. Before she reached the surface she felt that she couldn’t breathe properly and got very sick, so a dolphin had to bring her back home to take medicine. However, Light continued thinking about the mysteries on the surface.

One week later, her sisters Caribbean and Star woke her up to give her medicine, but she wasn’t in her bedroom, she had disappeared! Light had escaped from the reef because she wanted to see what was on the surface. There, a fisherman caught her with his rod.
