I am Mansa Musa. I am the richest man in history!

As part of being a Muslim, I need to go on a Journey to an important religious building! I will take you on the journey, and teach you about the history of West Africa.

As we go, I will build many schools and religious buildings because I'm so rich, there is no point in not doing so.

This was Mali, where I am from. Mali is a center for trade routes and is very rich. Next, we visit Ghana, Land of Gold!

This is Ghana. There is lots of Gold here, and they are famous for it. Many merchants, as well as the king lived here.

They, like I, were Islamic. They used Islam to enforce government policies and used Muslims as officials! However, they eventually overran themselves with trade and were taken as part of Mali.

This is Songhai. They are a large empire. They formed after my empire collapsed, and were very rich in salt and gold.

This is the area Songhai covered. This is where Mali was, but they formed after Mali fell.
