The French people had finally gotten enough of the king and queen so they decided to rebel against the throne and fight for their rights. While being lead by others they changed their government and overthrew the king and his monarchy ways. Although this was a victory there was also many deaths.

Meeting of the Estates General

In 1789, the King Louis XVI called a meeting of the Estates General. There hasn't been a meeting of the estates since 1614 but now they meet again because of financial problems. The first advice was how to vote and the third estate disagreed on the term of 1 vote per estate. So they called for national assembley.

20 June 1789, the members of the French estates general for the Third Estate, who called themselves the National Assembly, took the Tennis Court Oath.They vowed to never separate and to assemble when a problem occurs.

On 14, july 1789 a prison in paris was attacked by the angered french people. The prison was a symbol for dictatorial rule and because of it's destruction it was marked as a defining moment for the revolution.
