Jimmy Hoffa (James R Hoffa) was the most powerful man in the United States. He had the power to stop all interstate commerce. The Teamsters controlled 90% of the transportation in the United States, and Jimmy Hoffa controlled the Teamsters. He also had ties with the Mafia. He was an American Union leader, and had a wife and two children.

At 2 PM on a Wednesday, July 30, 1975. Jimmy Hoffa  was meeting Tony Provenzano, A mobbed up teamsters official from New Jersey, and Tony Giacalone, a Mafia captain in Detroit. Jimmy Hoffa believed that the meeting was a peace conference. They were supposed to meet up at the Machus Red Fox restaurant, but Jimmy was stood up by the two Mobsters.

Around 2:30 Jimmy called his wife, asking if she heard from anyone. Provenzano wasn’t in Michigan, he was still in New Jersey, and Giacalone was at the South Athletic Club, which is several miles from the Machus Red Fox restaurant. Hoffa’s friend, Frank Sheeran, pulled up. Sheeran then told Hoffa that the plans have changed and the meeting is being held in the presence of mob boss, Russell Bufalino. Hoffa trusted Frank and got into the car.
