I dedicate my poetry anthology to my mom for always standing by me through anything and being my best friend in life. You are my rock and I would never be the person I am today if it wasn't for having you as my mom. If I become even half the mother you are when I'm older I will be happy. You are my person. I love you.

I am Poem
I am a believer in animal rights
I wonder why anyone could be anything but tender with animals
I hear the stories on the news and it rips me to pieces
I see the cruelty everywhere these days
I want an end to animal cruelty
I am an advocate for change
I pretend it doesn’t bother me

I feel disgusted with these abusers
I worry this issue will never get better
I cry for animals who have been beaten, abandoned, or starved
I am appalled by someone having the ability to hurt/kill innocents
I understand there are no excuses for abuse
I say enough is enough
I dream one day no animal would have to suffer from abuse
I try to have my voice heard
I hope one day the pounds are empty
I am standing up for what’s right!

I am poem: My response
I wrote the poem the way I did was because I have very strong feelings toward animal abuse. Seeing animal abusing hits me harder than anything else in society today. Ever since I was little I have always had a care and passion for animals. I've always wanted to help them in any way I could. In the first poetic device I used was hyperbole because this topic this is very important to me so I felt the need to exaggerate on this line of the poem .
Bio Poem: My response
I wrote the poem the way I did was because this is the way I see myself. I see myself as confident and caring. In the first poetic device I used was Alliteration when describing how I treat my friends. I always treat my friends with the three C's, Compassion, care, and comfort. This poem does a really good job of describing my personality and my likes/dislikes.
Recreation Poem: Horrified Students
The gray December day
That was thought to be like every other
The first shot was released
Just around the corner from 1st period
Shots hissing through the door
Terrified students shielded by tiered desks
My classmates, before me, then gone
He took them from me
I looked up and all I could do,
Was ask why

Stylistic Imitation Poem
At 2:49 in the afternoon
It was at 2:49 in the afternoon
12 seconds and 210 yards
At 2:49 in the afternoon
Two homemade bombs near the finish line
At 2:49 in the afternoon
Runners running from death and death alone
At 2:49 in the afternoon
Wind carrying ash and smoke throughout
At 2:49 in the afternoon
Bodies draped on the railing and ground like curtains
At 2:49 in the afternoon

Leaving three casualties
At 2:49 in the afternoon
A gruesome scene of bloodshed, destruction and chaos.
At 2:49 in the afternoon
16 amputations and many more hearts broken At 2:49 in the afternoon
A community grieving and family members devastated
At 2:49 in the afternoon

Recreation Poem: My response
The setting of this recreation poem is inside a school during a school shooting. I wrote the poem the way I did was because there are so many school shootings happening in today's society that it hard to feel safe coming to school everyday. This is something that gets to me since this could easily happen any day at Santana and that's an incredibly scary thought. In the first poetic device, I used personification to describe the sound of bullets. In the second poetic device, I used alliteration to set the scene of a grey day with a grey and dark outcome.
Lorca Stylistic Imitation poem: My Response
In this poem the setting is the Boston Marathon bombing. This event happened at 2:49 in the afternoon and I used the poetic device of repetition to address how much impact this time had on everyone in the U.S but more importantly the runners in the marathon. I wrote the poem the way I did was because this was a very bad day in our history that we should remember forever for the victims we lost that day. The next poetic device I used was alliteration for the runners that were running in the marathon who were the victims. This is a very serious poem and was very emotional to write.
Definition poem
Comfort: [kmfrt] , noun, plural comforts,
When my fuzzy blanket hugs me on a chilly day;
Feeling my mom’s warm embrace;
Knowing I have all my homework done;
A home cooked meal;
Taking a nap after a day at school that lasted forever;
The sound of crashing waves, the smell of the sea;
Drinking hot tea with a sore throat;
Going to sleep knowing you don’t have to set an alarm;
Leaving for vacation, coming home from vacation.

Limerick Poem
There once was a farmer from Maine,
Whose cow was in terrible pain,
He went to the vet,
To care for his pain,
But then got caught in the rain
Definition Poem: My response
My definition poem is about the things I find comfort in with life. My main comforts are being with my mom, getting my homework done, etc. It's the little things in life that I find comfort in. I wrote the poem the way I did was because I find my life very comfortable so I wanted to share some of those things that make it worth living. The first poetic device I used was personification of my fuzzy blanket. Anyone who knows me knows that I cannot sleep with any other blanket than my fuzzy blanket. Its the most comfortable blanket ever, don't even try to argue with me on that. The second poetic device I used was hyperbole about my school days, that last way too long.
Limerick poem: My Response
My limerick poem is about a farm and a farmer. There's not much to say about it other than a farmer trying to help his animal. I used end rhyme on this poem to make it flow really nicely. This poem is a very weird and random poem.
