
Daniel , Stacy, and their son Anderson live in Galveston, Texas. They had recently moved from New York and were still adjusting to their new environment. Anderson had just started the first grade at a new school and was struggling to fit in and make friends.




Soon after they moved, Hurricane Harvey started to form. Stacy, Daniel, and Anderson had never experienced a natural disaster before. They were unaware of what to do doing a hurricane and had no friends or family in the area to help.
When the hurricane hit, they had no where to evacuate. They had spent all of their money on the move from New York to Texas. The family stayed in their home throughout the disaster. They moved as many items as they could to the top floor and were forced to stay until the flood waters receded.


When the waters receded, the family saw that their house was destroyed. Their furniture was in pieces and their cars had been swept away. The walls and floors were soaking wet and the smell filling the house was almost unbearable. The parents had missed over a week of work .
