INTRODUCTION
Our culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people which are made up of their language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts.

Hey there, i am the captain of The Barbados Landship and I will be taking you through the history and everything that is involved in this cultural practice as you read.
History of The Barbados Landship
It was formed by Mr. Moses – Wood who was a retired Barbadian seaman, who served in the British Royal Navy. It is also a cultural movement known for entertaining parades and dances.

WHAT DOES THE TERM LANDSHIP MEAN?


The term Landship does not suggest that it is a on land but rather a movement of persons mimicking commands routines and dress of the British Royal Navy.



The Engine of this ship is known as the tuk band and this tuk band provides music for the dances as well as the of plaiting the maypole.
The instruments used in this Band is the snare drum, bass drum and the flute.

MAYPOLE PLAITTING
The dancing and plaiting of the maypole are the most beautiful part of the Landship performance. There are eight participants: four males, led by the King, with the red ribbon, and four females led by the Queen with the white ribbon. The six other ribbon colours are blue and green, yellow and mauve and orange and pink, which are plaited in a clock-wise and counter clock-wise movement, moving over and under each other.
The landship has many dances and maneuvers. Some Include:
