When many people think of bears they tend to picture the more common bears: black bears and brown bears! These are the bears we often see on TV and in movies!

But there are many different kinds of bears, and they come from all around the world!

We classify bears into eight species: The American black bear, the Asiatic or Asian black bear, the brown or grizzly bear, the polar bear, the giant panda bear, the sun bear, the spectacled bear, and the sloth bear!

The most common bear in the world is the North American black bear!
This bear species can be found in North America in areas such as: Florida, north into Canada, and north into Alaska!

There's only one kind of black bear right?
Wrong!
The Asiatic black bear is another species of bear. This bear species is found in Eastern Asia and is more carnivorous than American black bears!

Another commonly known bear is the brown bear. You can find this bear in North America, Asia, and Europe!
The brown bear is known for its large size!

But the largest bear species is...the polar bear! The polar bear can be found in Arctic territories of North America and Eurasia. They are known to be excellent hunters and consumers of seals! They have a uniquely carnivorous diet compared to the other bear species!
