One early morning, in a 5th grade class, Anna was listening to the teacher while there was a knock on the door. The whole class froze and looked up when Mrs. Leslie went to open the door.

As soon as Mrs.Leslie opened the door, a new boy walked in. Anna couldn't take her eyes off him. He was handsome and cute. Anna's friends Susan and Melanie caught Anna looking at the new boy. They were curious enough to ask.

Anna quickly blushed when her friends told her that they saw what she was doing. Anna couldn't think of anything to say so instead, she told them the truth.

Susan and Melanie were shocked! They were so happy to see Anna having a crush. Then, Mrs. Leslie introduced the new boy, Erik. He didn't know where to sit so Mrs. Leslie assigned him the seat next to Anna. Anna's heart beat so fast when the new boy sat next to her.

Anna couldn't control herself and blurted out, "Hey!" Erik turned his head to face Anna and he thought to himself, "Wow, I've never seen a beauty like this." It took long enough for Erik to say, "Hey" back to Anna. But as fast as time moved, they became friends in no time.

In a few minutes, the class was going to be dismissed to go home. Anna didn't want to leave because she knew she that she was going to miss Erik. But not long after another math lesson, the class was dismissed.

Susan and Melanie ran to Anna to ask her if she had talked to Erik. Anna replied "Yes," with a smile on her face. "This day could never be any better," thought Anna. Susan and Melanie thought of an idea. "Anna, Valentine's Day is this Wednesday! You should make Erik a card!" said Susan.
