This short story is dedicated to children of all ages around the world

Once upon a time, on a cold and dark December night,
I sat on my comfortable, velvet, reclining chair, with the warm fireplace in sight.
As I drifted into sleep, I was awoken by tapping and came back to my feet.

Lenore??
It was someone knocking on my chamber door,
I couldn't help but think it was my wife Lenore.
The only problem was that my wife had recently passed away,
I could no longer be with her but I was convinced that I would find a way.
I opened the door and came to find out that no one was there,
I felt a fear that was just too much to bare.
Again, the thought came to mind of my lost Lenore.

I couldn't resist but call out her name
"Lenore",
And just like that, I heard an echo call back,
"Lenore".
I turned and walked back to sit on my chair,
but the tapping continued, but from where?

As I looked over to window, from where the knocking was coming,
I saw an ebony bird. It looked so stunning.
