Once upon a time... a mother in the land called Tibet, gave birth to a baby boy named Lhamo Thondup



Lhamo and his 6 brothers and sisters lived on a farm where their parents raised and traded horses.

















In the first years of his life, Lhamo was raised in traditional Tibet culture. This included a religious practice called Buddhism.

All was peaceful on the Thondup farm until one day a search party knocked on the door and said that Lhamo needed to come with them.



He is the chosen one!





And at the age of 3 he was taken to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet where he would be known as The Dalai Lama and begin his journey as a religious leader.





For many years after being selected from his home, the Dalai Lama would spend his childhood in spiritual education.






This special school would prepare the young man to lead Tibet religiously and politically while maintaining peace in respect to the Buddhist religion


Later, after years of peace in Tibet something terrible happened....
