To my son, Brayden, who helped with the vision of this story. To all little kids whose teeth are waiting to be a leader.

There were small white squares surrounded by a bed of pink. Each square had its roots planted deep into the pink bed. The little white squares were tiny and shiny. They all came to this little bed at different times. Yet, they were all family.

Each day there was a surprise they all shared. Some days were sweet. Some days were sour. Other days were a mystery. Sometimes they hurt and felt not so shiny. But every night they knew they would be surrounded by foam and given a massage with a soft bristly brush.

There was one square that was the leader. He arrived to the pink bed first. His name was "Buckey." He helped the others learn what to do. They learned to chomp, grind, and nibble. It could be hard work, but each square was given a chore. They worked as a team and enjoyed their home.
