Jungle Run was one of the greatest television game shows in children's TV history, It began on 10th September 1999 (MCMXCIX) and ended on 29 November 2006 (MMVI), after 8 seasons and 99 episodes. The show was similar to The Crystal Maze and Fort Boyard, and was created by Lesley Oakden. It was broadcast on Children's ITV in the UK.
Jungle Run was originally hosted by Dominic Wood and was also hosted by Chris Jarvis and Michael Underwood in later years.
In the first 2 series of the show, the team had 4 contestants, but this was dropped to 3 in 2001 when series 3 began
During the first 2 series, the team collected bananas. These were worth time in the Temple of the Jungle King. The golden banana was worth 50 bananas
From series 3 until the last ever episode in 2006, they collected monkey statues. Each one was worth 10 seconds of the time in the Temple of the Jungle King and there was a ruby statue worth 20 seconds
There were many locations in the show's history including the Swamp, Abandoned Camp, The Chasm, the Tomb and the Rapids.
In series three, Angel Falls and the Dark Swamp replaced the Rapids and the Swamp. The Old Pyramid, and the Wrecked Boat were added and the tomb became the Lost Tomb.
The team had to get to the temple before nightfall. Once they reached the Temple of the Jungle King, they had to solve puzzles and get out before the temple closed, locking them in forever. There were monkey statues in the Temple, one stone, one bronze, one silver and the Golden Monkey. If any contestant was locked in the temple, won NOTHING!
