This is a Newspaper Article for my excavation. There was a heel of sand and rocks and the owner of that land wanted to clear his territory. So, he called a truck in order to remove those rocks. When the truck driver started digging, he hit me. That's how I was found.

Hello! I am the only winged golden lion of Saint Mark that found in Corfu!

Venetians ruled Corfu for many years.

I am the symbol of their power. I   represent the evangelist Saint Mark himself, who is the protector of Venice.

Venetians made many stone lions and put them on the fortresses  of  Corfu. Many of these stone lions are still on the fortresses.

They made only one golden lion. Me!! 

 Unfortunately  I am not in Corfu anymore...  I   was taken by the British army, after the independence of Corfu, and since   then ,    I am kept in the Tower of London Museum.

I am the smiling lion of Kea ,on a Cycladic island and I am just a little outside of Ioulida. I am a stone lion carved on the cliff, 6 meters long, that enigmatic smiles at Μona Lisa and the experts say I am there from the 6th century. B.C.

When the nymphs who lived there began to kill the women of the island, forcing the inhabitants of the settlement to want to leave the place, a priest pleaded Zeus to save them, and he sent a lion and drove them away. I am the lion of Heronia and i have 5,30 m height. Under me is the tomb of Athenians and Thebians after the battle and the victory of Philip in 338 BC

Many people tried to excavate and find me. They found me in 1818, in 5 pieces and under me were found 252 skeletons of dead warriors.
