Dedicated to the epithelial, connective, muscular and nervous tissue.

Our body has four types of tissue which are the connective, epithelial, muscle, and nervous tissue. Each tissue has a different function.

Epithelial tissues form boundaries and help protect the body. The functions of epithelial tissues are to protect, absorb, filter, excrete, secrete, and sense receptions. There are 8 types of epithelial tissues. Simple epithelium have one layer of cells while stratified epithelium have two or more which makes them more durable.

I am a simple squamous epithelial tissue. I allow materials to pass through areas by diffusion and filtration. I also secrete lubricating substances in the serosae to make it easier for substances to pass. I am located in the air sacs of lungs, lining of the heart, blood vessels, and lymphatic vessels.

I am a simple cuboidal epithelium. I am found in the kidneys, tubules, glands, and ducts. I am a single layer of cube-like cells with a large nuclei. My function is to secrete and absorb substances in the cells.

I am a simple columnar epithelium. My cells are tall and look like columns with round to oval nuclei. I am located in the digestive tract such as the gall bladder and excretory ducts. I absorb and secrete mucus, enzymes, and other substances.

I am a stratified cuboidal epithelium that protects, supports, secretes, and absorbs substances. I am found in sweat and mammary glands.

I am a stratified columnar epithelium that limits distribution in the body. I am found in the pharynx, male urethra, and in some glandular ducts. I am the only apical layer columnar.

I am a pseudostratified columnar epithelium and although I look like I have multiple layers of cells I actually only have one; my cells are different heights. I secrete substances such as mucus and use my cilia to push out mucus in the body. I can be found in the male's sperm ducts and ducts of large glands. I am also in the trachea and most of the upper respiratory tract.

I am a stratified squamous epithelium that protects tissues in areas that are likely to be scratched. I am located in moist linings such as the esophagus and mouth. I am made up of basal cells that are cuboidal or columnar and my surface cells are flattened.
I am a transitional epithelium, I look like a mix of stratified squamous and cuboidal epithelium. I stretch whenever I need to such as when the bladder stretches to hold more urine.

I am a type of connective tissue called cartilage. I have three types which are hyaline, elastic, and fibrocartilage. Hyaline cartilage is the most abundant and it supports and reinforces structures such as the nose. Elastic cartilage is similar to hyaline but it also maintains the shape of the structure while also being flexible such as the ear. Fibrocartilage, located in the intervertebral discs and knee joints. allows compressive shock with its tensile strength.
