Cold War obtained its name because both sides were afraid of fighting
each other directly. During the early years of the war, the Truman
Doctrine came in to place. Its goal was to aid free peoples who are
resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside
pressures. This actions' immediate effect were to ease Soviet demands in
Turkey. The most important thing about the Cold War and the Vietnam
