(D) determine the unknown whole number in a
multiplication or division equation relating three
whole numbers when the unknown is either a missing
factor or product

One winter morning, Sprinkles the cat woke up and saw that it was snowing outside! “Ahh!” She thought, "What a perfect day to invite my friends over for hot cocoa!"
She ran down stairs and checked her fridge for milk, her cabinet for hot cocoa, and her pantry for mini marshmallows.

Oh no! She had the milk, and the cocoa but she ran out of mini marshmallows!
It was then she realized she had two problems; one, she needs to buy mini marshmallows, and two, before she can buy her mini marshmallows she needs to figure out how many friends she is going to invite.
She began to think of ways to solve her two problems. She wants her friends to come over and love her hot cocoa, she just needs to figure out: who to invite and how many mini marshmallows to buy?

Sprinkles thinks, "If I invite Lewie, Chip and Brownie, I'll need three mugs, one for each friend and one mug for myself, that will total four mugs."

She goes on to think, "Now, using four mugs for the hot cocoa, if I buy a pack of 24 mini marshmallow, how many mini marshmallows will each of us get?"
4 x ? = 24

“Hmmm” She thought, "I still want to invite my friends Molly, Leo and Pumpkin for some hot cocoa too! Well, let's see," she said, "inviting Lewie, Chip, Brownie, Molly, Leo, and Pumpkin means I'll need six mugs for them, and one mug for myself, totaling seven mugs."

"Now, if I want to use my seven mugs for the hot cocoa, and I buy a bag of 56 mini marshmallows, how many mini marshmallows will we each get?"
7 x ? = 56
