To all kids looking for a bright and great future.

Habit 1: Be Proactive
Being proactive means to have control of your life and don't let others control you.
For example, lets say you have an apple, and your friend walks in and tells you it is a banana. Being proactive means to believe what you know is true and control what you think and do.

More information
Remember, be PROactive and not REactive. Being reactive is when you respond to something. Make sure you are the one doing the stuff others react to in a good way.
Also remember you can't control EVERYTHING. You can control the way you act, but you can't control the way others act toward you.
Baby Steps
Baby Steps are ways that you can improve in the habits such as:
- 1. Today, do something that you have been to scared to do.
- 2. If you get in an argument with someone, be the first to say, "I am sorry."
- 3. The next time someone does something you don't like, don't react and get mad at them, think about how you can fix it.
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Beginning with the end in mind means to think ahead in your life about what you want to be and how you are going to have to do it.
For example, lets say you want to get better at basketball, so you sign up for basketball, but you don't like one of the coaches. When beginning with the end in mind, you will keep playing with that coach, so you can get better at basketball.

More information
Beginning with the end in mind means that you have to know what you want to do before you do it. You need to decide if you want to go to college before it comes to the decision. Also making a mission statement could help you. A missions statement is a statement that tells how you want to be/act.
Baby Steps
- 1. Think of 3 skills that you need to have to be successful in life.
- 2. Look back on your missions statement every day for 1 month so you know how you want to act.
- 3. Think of a goal that you have for the future. Write down the goal so you can remember it and achieve it.
Habit 3: Putting 1st things 1st
To put first things first means to do the important things first, then do the fun stuff next.
For example, lets say that you come home from school and you have homework to do, but you really want to go outside and play. You decide to do the homework first so you can get it done, and then you went outside. That is an example of putting first things first.

More Information
There are 4 different kinds of people which are:
The Procrastinator, The Prioritizer, The Yes-man, and The Slacker. The Procrastinator is the person that puts important papers or events off to the last minute, rushing to do things on time. The Prioritizer is someone that plans ahead, keeps things straight, and relaxes. The Yes-man is someone that says yes to everything, never getting his own work done. Lastly, The Slacker is someone that doesn't do work and focuses on the non-important things. You want to be the prioritizer because they run a healthy life.
Baby Steps
- 1. Know what your biggest time-wasters are and cut them out of your life.
- 2. When you have homework, make sure you do it before anything else so you will have time to get it done.
- 3. If you have something you have waited to do, make sure to set time up this week to be able to do that one thing.
Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Thinking Win-Win means that you think of a way you can get your way and someone else can also get their way.
For example, lets say that you and your friend both make the basketball team, but he makes the "A" team and you make the "B" team. You may be sad that you didn't get on the "A" team, you are still happy for your friend and hope he succeeds. That is an example of thinking win-win.

More Information
There are 4 different attitudes: The Win-Lose, Lose-Win, Lose-Lose, and Win-Win. The Win-Lose attitude is when you argue with someone until you get your way and they don't. The Lose-Win attitude is when you let everyone walk over you, letting them get what they want, leaving you with what you don't want. The Lose-Lose is when you and the other person don't get anything, which can be the result of war or revenge. Finally, the Win-Win is the best. The Win-Win is a concept where you and the other person get what you want, which is always the best option.
Baby Steps
- 1. If you are playing sports or playing a game, take time to say something nice to the other team.
- 2. The next time someone does good at something, actually be happy for them and cheer them on.
- 3. Without caring about winning or losing, play a game with your friends just to have fun with them.
Habit 5: First Understand, Then be Understood
Habit 5 means to listen to others before talk so you can then learn from them and understand them better.
For example, lets say you walk into a shoe shop trying to buy some shoes and tell the cashier you are looking for some shoes, and he shows you some shoes you don't like. When telling him you don't like them, he keeps telling you you must because everyone else likes them. He isn't listening,
More Information pt.1
There are 5 poor listening skills that we all have which we use when we really don't care too listen. The first one, Spacing out, is when someone is talking to us, but we are in another galaxy, thinking of anything else. Next is pretend listening. Pretend listening is when we aren't really listening, but we make little comments to act like we are.
