The Big Picture
In 1770, the tension between the Colonist and British soldiers was high. The colonist were frustrated and upset due to their lack of representation in Parliament, the British Government. Several soldiers were housed in Colonist's homes under the Quartering Act and they felt they were being taxed unfairly. To protests the taxes, Colonists would vandalize stores selling British goods and intimates shop owners.
