To the most wonderful person I know. Also my dog.

Slumbering quietly in his bed that early Sunday morning, was Tate the fire dog. He was dreaming of all the wonderful firefighters at the Dunsmuir Fire Department, such as Patrick, Martin and John. Though most importantly Adam. Adam was one of Tate's favorite people. Tate would do anything for Adam, and in return Adam would do anything for Tate.
Tate was then awoken to a siren alerting the firefighters of a fire that was in need of being extinguished. He quickly stood up and stretched a big stretch shaking off what was left of the sleep covering him. Tate leaped down the stairs and had someone slip on his heroic looking doggy fireman suit. He was ready and so was everyone else.
Everyone jumped into the fire truck ready for anything. Adam turned on the siren and honked the horn really loud so everyone would know he was coming to save the day. Tate Barked excitedly to help Adam make his point.
When the fire truck pulled into the the scene of the fire, they were met with a small house engulfed in flames. The entire roof was on fire, probably due to a chimney not being cleaned properly. Many of the brave firemen jumped out of the firetruck and started pulling out ropes of firehouse and hooking them up to a nearby fire hydrant.
Though when Adam jumped out of the car he saw an older woman in distress and screaming for help. Tate and Adam rushed to her side to find out what they could do to help. “Do you live here?” asked Adam. “Yes” Cried the women. “My granddaughter is still inside, I couldn't find her before the first responders arrived, I think she is hiding!” “Alright mam I will let the others know and we will do all we can do.” Adam said with a saddened heart.
What Adam did not know was as he said this Tate could hear the faint cry of a little girl coming from inside of the house. Tate looked at Adam and scratched the leg of his trousers. Adam looked down and said “ What is it boy?” Tate started to walk towards the house and pointed his nose, then looked back at Adam. “Show me.” Adam said to Tate.
Tate then ran towards the back of the house where there was a small whole in the wall where Adam and Tate could here the little girls calls for help more clearly. Adam tried making the hole larger with his ax, but as more air hit the fire the flames got bigger. Adam knew what he had to do he had to extinguish the flames in this area so he could make the whole bigger and find the little girl.
Adam ran to the side of the house and yelled for the other men to focus on the flames in the back of the house. What Adam didn't know was Tate wiggled into the whole in the wall and was looking for the little girl himself.
Inside the House it was very dark and filled with smoke. But Tate was not scared. He listened for the little girls cry again but it did not come. He then let out a loud bark hoping the little girl would hear him. When he still did not hear her, he trotted into the next room. It was hotter in this room, and he began to feel his paws grow warm. He knew he didn't have much more time to look for the little girl.
