This book is dedicated to my students. By sharing one of my personal experiences, I hope you can share yours.

One afternoon, I was walking in the park with my mom when a dog ran over to me and jumped on me! At first, I was a little bit scared but then he licked me and I started laughing.

Later that evening, I asked my mom if I could get a dog. I said "Mom, can I please get a dog. I promise to take care of it!" She told me she would have to think about it.

I stayed up all night hoping my mom would say yes!

The next morning during breakfast, my mom told me I could get a dog! I was so happy! I asked, "When can we go to the store?"

She said, "After school we will go get a dog!"

I waited and waited and waited!

Finally! We were on our way to the store!

We made it to the store! I played with so many dogs and finally found the one I wanted.

Roxie was home!
