Joseph Stalin was born in Georgia, Russia on December 18, 1878. He was born out of wedlock and that brought shame upon his family right from the start. His father was a cobbler and his mother a washerwomen, which meant he did not have a lot of money growing up. He was never really accepted in his small town. At the age of 7 he developed smallpox at the age of 7, which really set him apart from the other kids at his school.

After he recovered from small pox a few years later, he was in a carriage accident which left his arm permanently deformed. This really made the other kids hate and despise Joseph. This forced Joseph to isolate himself from the other kids at school, and mostly everyone else in his life as well. As Joseph got older, the other kids got meaner and meaner. This led Joseph to start seeking revenge, and respect. As Joseph got even older he started to want revenge against the people who bullied him. This developed into a cruel streak for those who crossed Joseph Stalin.

Despite his hard childhood, Joseph was very good in school. He got offered a scholarship to Tiflis Theological Seminary, in 1894. There he came into contact with a man who was the leader of a small group called Messamy Dassy. It was a secret organization that supported Gerogian Independance from Russia. Joseph would go onto join the group. There he was introduced to some of the writings of Karl Marxx, and Vladimir Lennin.

Joseph made a name for himself with the organization, and became well known. After Vlademir Lenins death, Joseph Stalin came to power of the Soviet Union, he managed to win complete control over the party. He led his people through World War Two. After the war, Stalin wanted Soviet domination of Eastern Europe. The United States viewed this as a plot for world domination, much like Hitler, and the United States began to take measures to contain the Soviet influence, thus beginning the Cold War.

Joseph Stalin was only leader during the cold war for a short time, however he was the main cause of the Cold War for wanting to expand the Soviet Union. Shortly after the cold war started the United States and Soviet Union were off to an arms race. Essentially Joseph Stalin and the United States were competing to make more weapons than the other, mainly nuclear bombs and missiles, to essentially assert their dominance to the other. The Cold War then goes onto just be a lot of propaganda and threats with Nuclear bombs for a really long time. The cold war started in 1947 shortly after Stalin came into power. However, Stalin would go onto die in 1953, only 6 years after the Cold War started.

Therefore, Stalin does not have a lot to do with the rest of the Cold War, which will end in 1991. Stalin did ultimately start the Cold War by wanting to expand the Soviet Union, after Stalins death, Nikita Khrushchev would take power of the Soviet Union.
