History of Słupsk
Słupsk developed from a few medieval settlements located on the banks of the Słupia River, at the unique ford along the trade routeconnecting the territories of modern Pomeranian and West Pomeranian Voivodeships. This factor led to construction of a grad, a Slavicfortified settlement, on an islet in the middle of the river. Surrounded by swamps and mires, the fortress had perfect defence conditions. Archeological research has shown that the grad was situated on an artificial hill and had a natural moat formed by the branches of the Słupia, and was protected by a palisade. Records confirm that the area of Słupsk was part of the Polish realm during the reign of Mieszko I and in the 11th century.

Town hall
Is the chief administrative building of Słupsk, a town in north-western Poland. The town hall was constructed in 1901 under Prussian rule in the Gothic Revival style and is listed in a group of heritage monuments protected by Polish law. One of the most iconic architectural elements of both the structure and the whole town is the 56-meter tall tower with a clock mechanism that has been operating uninterruptedly for 100 years. The tower and terrace are accessible to visitors since 2003.

Pomeranian Dukes' Castle
Built in 1507 under the reign of Prince Bogusław X in the Gothic style.
In the years 1580-1587 it was rebuilt into a two-story building in the Renaissance style, with large windows and a decorative tower. It is located in the vicinity of the Słupia River, within the former mediaeval Słupsk castle. Nearby, there are two hundred years older, the castle mill. In the 16th and 17th centuries the castle was the residence of Pomeranian dukes from the Griffin dynasty.

Witches' Tower
A tower of an old fortified city, built in the period from the beginning of the fourteenth to mid-fifteenth century, which arose in the place mentioned in the year 1325, the palisade here. The fortifications were built of erratic stones and bricks, they are laid in the Wendish and Polish threads.

Library
A few years ago, historians from Słupsk, Halina Machura, Zdzisław Machura and Zofia Madeła, wrote a book entitled "The Strange History of the Church of St. Nicholas and the Norbertine Order. " The title of this book captures what rich history the building of today's library had for centuries. At the beginning, of course, it was a Catholic church, later a Protestant church, and in the meantime even an Orthodox church. He was also a warehouse, a coach house, a fire station, an elementary school, a female school, for handicapped children, and finally he became a library. A few times burnt, however, it always arose from ruins.

Defensive walls
As archaeological research has shown, in the 9th century on the eastern side of the Słupia River there was a fortified castle, around which there were a number of settlements. It was situated on a steep hill surrounded by a pool, near a river crossing and a trade route leading from Gdańsk to Szczecin. Strengthening the castle was an earth embankment reinforced with a wooden structure, and the natural obstacle was the surrounding water. He fulfilled an important defense function, he was also the seat of territorial offices.

Richter's granary
In the years 1994 - 1998 the building was systematically transferred to the Fisheries Market with great precision and delicacy, in the immediate vicinity of the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle, the castle mill and the historic gate of the Sławno Castle - the Mill Gate. This treatment allowed to create a place in Słupsk, which in its style and atmosphere refers to the best times for the city.

Castle mill
The Castle Mill is one of the oldest industrial buildings in Poland. Currently, however, it serves as a part of the Museum of Central Pomerania. But the industrial part has its existing part. In a small building next to the mill there is a turbine for a hydroelectric power plant from 1925.

Mill gate
Is part of the town's fortifications. It was called because of the adjacent gate with a water mill.
Fortifications were built in the period from the beginning of the 14th century until the mid-15th century. All gates were made of brick. The walls with a height of 6.5 m were surrounded by the then city. Three gates on a rectangular plan allowed the city to communicate with the outside world. The gates had pinnacles, decorated with blends.
