How are they Different?

Calcium is different from other alkaline earth metals because calcium is essential for the formation and maintenance of strong bones and teeth. Beryllium is used as an aerospace structural material such as, a moderator and reflector in nuclear reactors, and in a Copper alloy used for springs, electrical contacts, and non-sparking tools. Magnesium is used in structural alloys, pyrotechnics, flash photography, and incendiary bombs.

Strontium is used in pyrotechnic compounds and various alloys. Barium is used to deoxidize Copper and in various alloys. Radium is used in cancer radiotherapy, as a neutron source for some research purposes, and as a constituent of luminescent paints.
