Meet AJ! AJ has lived in the same town and the same house for his entire life- and he’s been pretty happy. He goes to school, plays soccer with his friends, and spends time with his family, including his little sister Lily.  

But AJ has a secret- he was born with very special abilities. AJ can fly!

All AJ ever wants to do is fly and explore the sky. He’s seen all the heroes on TV- the people who swoop in at the last minute and save the day. He wants to be just like them.

One day, AJ got inspired. “Today is the day!” he declared, "This is the day that I finally become a superhero. "

Lily burst in. “Yay, can I come with you? I can be your sidekick!.”

AJ brushed her off. “Maybe later.” he replied, already running out the door.

AJ raced over to his best friends Harry’s house to tell him the news.

“Harry, Harry today’s the day! I’m going to become a hero.”

Harry grinned, “Well, If you’re going to do this, you’re going to need this! Every superhero needs a cape!”

“Thanks Harry!”

AJ ran out. Now all he needed to do was find someone to save! Then he’d be a real superhero.

AJ took off.

After hours of flying, AJ finally spotted Old Ms. Chandler trying to cross the street with two big bags. “Finally!” AJ thought, “Someone in need of help!”. He landed next to her and tried to grab her bag.

Ms. Chandler screamed! “Get away from me! These are my bags not yours!”. She grabbed her bags and quickly ran across the street.

AJ sighed, why didn’t she realize that he was just trying to help? He hadn’t thought it would be this hard to help people. Why did no one need him? He took off again.

This time, AJ landed at the school.He remembered that his teacher said that they really needed a garden. “Being a hero doesn’t mean that I just help one person” he thought, “I can help the entire school!”. He started digging, wanting to create a spot where they could plant lots of flowers.
