Once upon a time ,there were four girls;Aya,Iram,Amal

and Sarrah.They lived in a suburb in Bizerte called

"Sekma".The girls' neighbourhood had got small but

lovely houses.The people were kind,friendly,caring and

loving.They lived in happiness and peace.

One day,a neighbour's child developed an unknown

disease.He had fever,a terrible headache and red spots

on the skin.Soon, other children showed the same

symptoms.Nobody knew what happened.Everybody

was sad and helpless.

Then a doctor came and examined the kids.He

diagnosed that insect bites were the real cause

of the mysterious disease.

Where do insects come from?Our houses and

streets are always clean.

It must be that dirty vacant lot near our

neighbourhood.Your children usually

play there.

The following day, Aya , Amal , Iram and Sarrah met

and walked along the vacant lot near their

neighbourhood. It looked ugly and nasty. Cigarette

butts,used bottles, broken glass , food scraps and

waste paper were thrown everywhere. 

Oh,my God!How awful this place is ! What a

nasty smell! 

We had happy childhood memories in this

place.We used to play our favourite games

here. Do you remember?

Gone those days. It has become dirty .But I

think we can improve it and make it a better

place.

You are right.We should always try to make

things better. We shouldn't wait for others to

do that for us.

At the weekend, the four girls met early in the morning and started cleaning up the vacant lot. Aya and Sarrah collected waste paper, bottles and food scraps.They put all the rubbish in plastic bags before taking it to the garbage cans in their neighbourhood. Amal and Iram picked up weeds and fallen leaves.
