The Proclamation line was an invisible line that was made
to keep the colonies from colonizing west of the
mountains. The king did not want any more conflicts with
the Indian's. My rating was a 5 for this event because I
think it was the right thing to do. But at the same, time it
was bad because the colonies needed to expand to be
more successful. So, I rated it exactly in the middle!
French and Indian War Proclamation of 1763 Sugar Act
----------------------- --------------------- ----------
Cause Effect

1764
The King added a 3% tax on sugars and some wine.
Also, they banned imports on some types of wines
and rum. Colonists fought against this and protested
against taxation without representation. They were
also mad because they had no say in whether or not
this was going to take affect. I rated this a 7 because
colonists money was going to waste without their say
in any part of it. But, it's only a 3% tax, so it wasn't the
end of the world.

1765
British soldiers were sent to watch over the
colonists and enforce laws. Also, they had to
have a home to sleep, eat, and be provided for
(which were the colonists home). Colonists
thought they were being controlled and
stealing their items. I rated thus a 4 because
the colonies were under British control and
they were British troops.
Sugar Act Quartering Act Stamp Act

1765

British were in debt so they put tax on most
printed goods in the colonies. Colonists were
mad because they didn't have any say in the
government or the laws. They thought they
lost freedom in law making from the British
government. I rated this a 9 because this was
the second time taxation without
representation. Also, colonists didn't have any
consent either.

1765
Indirect tax placed on some goods that were
being charged at the arrival of the port. British
were trying to keep this tax secret and add it
on to the retail price. Eventually, the colonists
discovered this indirect tax and protested. I
rated this an 8 because I do not think it was as
bad as the sugar act because it was indirect.
Also, it's still the 3rd attempt of taxation, so it
was a high rating.
Sugar Act Townshed Act Boston Massacre
----------- ---------------- ------------------
Cause Effect

Don't tell the colonists!

Colonists were taunting British troops,
throwing snowballs, yelling. Eventually, the
British troops open fired on the colonists. Five
colonists were killed and Boston brought the
troops to trial for murder. I rated this a 2
because I feel as if the colonists brought this
on themselves. Also, colonists were killed, so it
can't be number 1.
