"Win if you can, loose if you must, but never quit"

"Good Morning!" Ava called excitedly as she ran downstairs. It was the first day of summer and she was so excited.
"Hey honey" Her father called from the kitchen, "I'm making pancakes! Your favorite" He added. Ava raced into the kitchen with a smile on her face.
"Chocolate chip?" She asked as she took a big breath and smelt the delicious fumes coming from the pancakes.
"You bet" He said with a smile as he flipped one in the air and placing it back onto the hot stove.

"Breakfast is served!" He said as he put the pancaked down next to the maple syrup.
"Where's Mom?" Ava asked looking around.
"She went to the store to get groceries." He said as he poured some orange juice. Ava began eating her syrup covered pancakes.
"I'm all done now Dad!" Ava exclaimed as she put her dishes in the sink.
"Okay! I have a surprise for you today." He said once they had finished cleaning the kitchen.
"What is it? What is it?" Ava asked excitedly.

"We are going swimming" He exclaimed as they walked into the living room. He helped her get dressed, packed some snacks, and grabbed a beach ball.
"I'm home!" Her Mom called from the kitchen. She came into the living room and saw Ava in her bathing suit.
"Are we going swimming?" She asked excitedly.
"Yes! I'm so excited!" Ava said showing off her bathing suit.
"Well lets go then!" She said pointing to the door.

They piled into the car and pulled out of the long driveway.
"Are we there yer? Are we there yet?" Ava asked, eager to go to the pool.
"Hold your horses silly!" Her dad said. They turned up the music and sang along until they pulled into the pool parking lot.
"Yay! We're here" Ava said jumping up and down.

Ava walked into the pool area and looked around surprised at how busy it was.
"Why are they all doing laps?" She questioned. Many people were swimming up and down the pool.
"People don't just swim for fun Ava." Her mom answered.
"Your Mom's right. Some people swim to win, others swim because they are injured, some even swim to make them calmer. It all depends about what you want to swim for." Added her Dad.
"Oh, I've never thought about it that way" Ava said thoughtfully.
