The sun is constantly sending its rays to earth.
But, greenhouse gases are trapping the heat inside earth's atmosphere!

A layer called the ozone layer is breaking down.
The ozone layer is one of many layers in earth's atmosphere that helps to protect us from the sun's harsh rays.
So without it, there's less protection from the sun!
This makes the earth hot!

In cold places like Greenland and Antarctica, glaciers and ice sheets are melting into the ocean.
Glaciers are big mountains of ice and snow. So when they melt into the ocean, more water gets added into the ocean.
With more dark oceans and less white snow/ice, the earth absorbs more heat and reflects less of it. (Aka albedo decreases).
When oceans get warmer, the warm water expands and takes up more space. (Thermal expansion)

Less ice and snow also means more dark lands that absorbs more heat.
Sea levels begin to rise because of more warm water.
With more water, there's more moisture in the air which causes more humidity.
More humidity -> more rain -> more water

Effects on Animals:
Animals such as polar bears, penguins, and seals all live in areas with glaciers and ice sheets. So when they melt, these animals lose their homes.
