A bright winged parrot,

In a tree, feathers combed,

Safe, at peace, and happy.

Friends, flowers, and a lemur rests below.

But during the night,

the wind began to howl.

Rain fell from the dark clouds-

and a lightening bolt crashed down.

Then flames grew mighty,

and the forest woke.

The parrot could only fly up,

due to all the fire and smoke.

Leaving his home,

Parrot began to cry.

Completely alone,

a safe home he was determined to find!

Landing in a tree,

in Grayson's backyard.

The boy looked up,

when a tear hit his arm.

Grayson could smell smoke,

and wanted to help.

He found the supplies,

and yelled, "I can help him myself!"

Grayson began to dig,

placing powerful seeds into the dirt.

As nighttime came,

it was time for bed and a clean shirt.

When the sun rose,

and the birds began to sing,

Grayson looked out his window,

and was surprised by what he did see!
