Dedicated to Mrs. Solod

Once in a mystical village, lived a godmother, watching over her dear godchild, after her child’s mother’s passing, her father had remarried to another maiden, bringing with her two daughters. The godmother was happy for her godchild, the beautiful Cinderella. Though, the stepmother mistreated the child, making her do the groggy work of the household, giving her the worst chambers. The godmother watched her dear child work and work, growing upset that the poor child was being treated in such a way.

A few weeks had passed by, the godmother continued to watch in despair for Cinderella. A knock on the door from a palace postman. There was to be a ball, where all fair maidens were invited by the prince and king. The stepmother and stepsisters grew excited in front of Cinderella. The godmother smiled, hoping for Cinderella to finally have a brief break after all of her hard work.
The stepmother however decided that Cinderella must not go, “You may not go to the palace, you must clean the fire’s ashes, spotless.” The stepmother had stated, a stern and unjust look on her face. Cinderella simply obeyed. The godmother grew furious at the situation, she decided that after the other girls went to the palace, she would treat Cinderella as well.
The stepmother and stepsisters had Cinderella dress them, do their hair, the whole time Cinderella had called them “pretty,” and “elegant girls.” After a short while, it was time for them to leave. Cinderella waved goodbye with a somber smile, as they turned away, she immediately shut the door, crying full tears, letting them finally fall to the ground
A bright shimmer appeared before her, it’s radiance so bright, it was the godmother. Godmother was smiling, she was happy to help the child she had watched since birth. “My dear child, why do you cry?” she said, landing on the ground. Cinderella looked up at the godmother, slightly shocked at the sight of her, “I I wish to go to the prince’s ball, but mother says I must not go”. The godmother nodded, “Dear child, I am your godmother and I shall grant your wish. Now, bring me a watermelon.”
