21ST OF MAY
DIVERSITY DAY
Today 21 of May, the Diversity Day, Fatima decides to talk about the importance of diversity with her students through a short story.

Once upon a time....

Once upon a time there was a child named Amira. She was nervous because it was the beginning of the course. She was going to enter a new school, and she just wanted to make new friends.

When Amira came in to the class, she was introduced by her teacher to her future classmates. Suddenly, many of the children were surprised and raised their hands to ask what was on her head.
This is Amira, and is going to be your new classmate
What is the weird thing you wear on your head?

It’s my hiyab, all the girls of my religion wear it on the head.
Amira, a little surprised, said:
Some children laughed at her explanation, and them the teacher explained that is not right to laugh at the diversity of each culture.
The bell rang: RIIIIING
Was the time to go to the playground.

- Let’s see, let’s see What is the color of your hair?
- We don’t like your clothes. Why you dress so rare?
- You’re different from us, you’re weird.
Suddenly, a group of girls came near Amira with the intention of seeing the colour of her hair. Then they started pulling her hijab and making fun of her.
Amira started to feel sad and ashamed as if she had done something wrong. She ran away from that horrible situation and she went to the bathroom.

TIC-TAC, TIC-TAC!
Time went on and nothing changed.
Every day Amira felt ridiculous and different.

Fed up with the situation and feeling that way, Amira spoke with her parents, and told them she refused to wear the hiyab anymore.

I’m never going to wear this absurd hijab again
What happened? Why do you say that? What’s wrong with carrying your hiyab?
I’m weird for wearing it.

We need to talk with her teacher, because something wrong is happening.
After the brief discussion, Amira ran off crying to her bedroom.
Darling, i’m so worried.
