Pete regained consciousness. He squinted as the early light slithered through the gaps in the blind. How long had he been out for? What was the time he wondered? He promptly received the answer: 08:30 read the alarm clock.

The sheets rustled as Pete rolled over, he couldn’t be bothered getting out of bed today, it was too snug to abandon it for the cold, tile floor. But no, he had too. He had been holding it in too long, if he didn’t go now he would re-create Noah’s ark. Pete stretched out his legs, he was going to have to take the plunge. 

Pete tugged at his sheets, but they didn’t shift. He tugged at them again, but still, they didn’t give. Pete scuffled with his sheets, finally pulling them out. Pete fumbled, spiralling onto the carpet floor with an echoing ‘THUD.’ That could have woken the dead Pete thought, but as Pete listened, a deathly hush still lay throughout the house.

Pete restored his breath as he set off, hauling himself across the floor... he had to get to the toilet soon.
