This book is dedicated to my loving father, Peter, who never fails to help me stop and smell the flowers.

On one bright sunny day, a single leaf named Bill spotted a father and a daughter huddled together on their front porch. He watched silently as they drank their early morning coffee and listened to the birds.

Bill watched them morning after morning, sharing stories and enjoying each other's company. He thought to himself, "I wish I had someone to talk to".
After all, Bill was only a leaf; set in his life to grow and fall.
The next morning, Bill tried to get their attention. He waved himself back and forth high up in the oak tree, hoping Julia or Peter would notice him.
Julia looked up and spotted Bill up on a loan branch. She said to Peter, "Look at that leaf! He's beautiful and all alone. We should stay with him until he falls".

From that morning forward, Julia and Peter would sit rocking on the porch, whistling with the birds, watching Bill up in the trees. Julia would talk to Peter about Bill and his life as a leaf.
Although she was young, she knew nobody, even someone as small as Bill, should live their life alone.
