The Materials I am going to Investigate.
I am going to use tinfoil, paper towel, J cloth, bubble wrap and an elastic band to secure each material on the cup. I have three types of cup.. which will be the best insulator?

Predictions...
With the help of prompts on a sheet that our teacher gave us we predicted which materials we felt would be the best insulator. We confidently predicted the paper cup with tinfoil as the best one.

We took the temperature of the boiling water in a cup with no material wrapped around it before and after two minutes which acted as a control. We put the materials around each cup and then poured boiling water into each cup, we noted the inital temperature pf water and then the final temperature of water after two minutes. We noted results.

Results...

We discovered that the tinfoil and bubble wrap insulator was the best. The water only decreased by 1 degree in these containers. However in both the J cloth and kitchen paper cups the water decreased by 2 degrees. Our predictions were correct however we did not believe bubble wrap would also be the best.
We drew a table to show our results as we felt this was the best way to communicate them. We wrote the name of the material used, the temperature before and after 2 minutes and then the difference between them.
