My grandmother told me many stories from her life as a child and adult, and today I want to share one of her stories with you.

Often she wanted to hang out with other children, but her mother had other plans for her. All my grandma wanted to do was play and be as a free as a bird. After all, she was only a child and children do not think about adults’ responsibilities, they do not think about the troubles each day brings, and they don’t think far ahead.

It was a sweltering summer day and my grandma had to take care of the geese. Swimming in the lake nearby was more appealing than watching the geese for hours. What can be nicer than jumping into the water on a hot summer day?

My grandma decided to have a refreshing break in the water together with the geese. 

When she arrived at the lake some of her friends were already there. They swam, played in the water and had a good time. 

She completely forgot about the geese and her duty to keep an eye on them. But the geese must have got tired of swimming and waddled out of the water. They knew the way back home, so they arrived home much earlier than usual.
