Cheetahs (or, Acinonyx jubatus) are fascinating creatures. They are the fastest land animals on Earth, and can even change direction mid-air while running! They are also the only big cat that cannot roar, but can purr.

Residing in the North of Africa, cheetahs like to eat gazelles, impalas, and antelope.

Unfortunately, cheetahs have a problem. Over the past few decades, their numbers in the wild have dropped to only 7,100! They face a number of challenges in their habitats, mainly caused by humans. Land has been stripped and cut away to make room for agricultural plantations and livestock. The cheetahs are hunted by farmers who are worried that they will try to eat their animals, as well as poachers.
