Our bodies need exercise every day. Exercise helps to keep our bodies healthy and our muscles strong. When we don't exercise, our muscles become weak and doing daily activities become harder to complete. Not getting enough exercise can also lower your immune system causing you to get sick more frequently. There are several things you can do to stay active and healthy every day.
Wall Ball - Recess
Recess
Recess is a great time to make sure you get in some physical activity! Ask a few friends if they will play wall ball, soccer, basketball, or football with you. No matter what you decide to do, make sure you get your body moving!
Here's a fun fact: Did you know that you get 40% of your daily physical activity from recess?
Go Noodle - Classroom Activity
Classroom Physical Activity
When your in the classroom, you still need physical activity. Spending 10-15 minutes during class to do physical activity has been shown to help keep your BMI down and gives your brain a break from working hard! 'Go Noodle' is a website where teachers and parents can choose from fun videos to watch. It's your job to copy the movements from the video. Not only do you get to have fun, but you are getting exercise too!
Extramural Sports
Extramural Sports
Extramural sports means you play on a sports team outside of school. There are a lot of sports you can play outside of school, such as: soccer, softball, baseball, and basketball. Not only is playing extramural sports a great way to keep active, but it's a great way to meet new people and teaches you how to overcome an obstacle.
Fun fact: Children who play sports tend to become spectators, but children who are spectators don't always participate in sports.
