Hello! My name is Mayle, and today, I’m going to tell you about the time my family adopted a new dog! 

My family decided that our dog, Lucky, needed a buddy! So we headed off to the adoption center! 

When we got there, we went outside to a yard full of dogs! There were so many types of dogs! I saw huge dogs that were taller than me, and dogs that were so so tiny! 

 I saw dogs with lots and lots of fluffy fur and wrinkly dogs with no hair! I saw brown dogs, black dogs, white dogs, and spotted dogs!

 As we walked around I petted each and every dog. I wondered which one would be my new best friend. Then, I noticed my brother was only looking at one dog.

As I walked over to him, he was petting a black dog with streaks of gold around her eyes and ears. She wasn’t as big as some of the dogs, but she was a lot bigger than our dog at home. I knew my mom wasn’t going to like that!

But my brother insisted that this was the perfect dog. He begged my mom and said, “This is my dream dog!” Soon my mom decided that having a big dog wouldn’t be too bad, and we decided to adopt her! We asked the nice lady who was working, “What’s this dog’s name?” and she told us, “Her name is Runtillia!!!”

Riley

 We all thought Runtilla was such a funny name, but we decided to name our new pet Riley. We even got a new collar for her with a pink heart on it that said her name! I was so excited to have a new best friend! 

When we got home, I called our dog, Lucky, into the living room. I just knew he was going to love Riley so much! 

BARK! GRRR!

So lucky pranced into the living room and then my dad walked Riley in. 

GRRRRRRR!

The room exploded in angry growls from both my dogs! 

 My dad took Riley into the kitchen away from Lucky, and we let both dogs calm down. I was really sad. I wanted Riley and Lucky to love each other just as much as I loved them!  After a little while, my dad came up with a plan. What is one thing all dogs love?? To go for a walk!
