To My Class!

Hanna and her dad were beginning to pack their belongings to leave on their long journey ahead. They had lived in Mexico since Hanna was born, but it was time to start anew. Hanna's dad had long since suffered horrible working conditions and the Mexican government was no longer offering the same opportunities as they once had before. They were going to be immigrating to America.

They began their trek through the desert. It was going to be a long and arduous journey. But they knew it was going to be worth it in the end. They were fleeing violence and uncertainty in Mexico, and they knew they would be okay as long as they stuck together. If they got separated at any point, Hanna would then be seen as an unaccompanied minor. But legally she could not be sent away. However it was not the same for her dad.
Hanna and her dad kept trudging through the desert. They were almost to the Mexican-US border. They were both afraid of what would happen when they finally reached their destination, but they knew they would at least be offered asylum.

Hanna and her father were greeted by U.S. Border Patrol Officers, and granted asylum for the time being. They were to stay in an immigrant processing center until their fate was decided.

A government official finally came to Hanna and her father and said that they would be sent to Washington D.C. to stay with relatives. Their relatives had sent money to have them fly to them for the time being, until they could get a permit to stay in the country.
