I worked on a farm,
With my family and brothers,
I would live no other life,
Given my druthers.

I wake to the sunrise,
I work across the green horizon,
My loved ones are near,
As I care for the wizen.

And every night,
As is my tradition,
I watch the sunset from our roof,
From the perfect position.
I could go on forever,
Forever living this way,
Though my peace was disrupted,
On one fateful day.

I was attacked by a man,
Similar in appearance,
So I fought with my fists,
For the moment I was fearless.
He pulled out a club,
And wiped my memory,
Stuffing me in a sack,
As I entered a twisted reverie.

Within seconds of waking,
I’m boarding a ship,
But the mass of this operation,
Makes my insides flip.

Such horrified faces,
Of terror and confusion,
It couldn’t be real,
Could it be a delusion?

Regardless, we’re forced on,
Beat into our places,
As the travel days were brutal,
With that same terror on our faces.

A man pressed to my left,
A child pressed to my right,
I think it goes without saying,
Space was tight.

So I closed my eyes,
And thought of my home,
My life before terror,
Before I was alone.

A sudden CRACK!
I was struck in the scull,
Awakened for feeding,
Like an animal.
