The history of the Adidas brand is that of the brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler. Although both shared a great passion for the sport, it was the same feeling that united them that one who hinted at the rivalry that existed between the two from the beginning.
As is the case with many businesses, that of the Dassler brothers was born not only from a passion for an activity but also from a hobby that Adolf, better known as “Adi”, was perfecting by developing sneakers that his brother Rudolf -the man business- was in charge of marketing.
History
In the early 1920s the young company, which was originally called the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory in German, was launched in a small town in Germany called Herzogenaurach.
Although things seemed to be going well in principle, the rivalry that so often confronts siblings and even families, would begin to mark the fate of the company.
Since 1970, Adidas has been the official sponsor, supplier and holder of the Soccer World Cup. In this event, Adidas is in charge of providing the soccer balls and the clothing of the referees, assistant assistants, and ball boys. On January 19, 2005, the Adidas Group announced an extension of the partnership between the Textile Company and FIFA, winning the rights to the 2010 and 2014 event.
