Happy Camper

Camp at last! Bumping down the gravel road, the car screeches to a halt, finally arriving at Happy Hollow Bible Camp. Before the car comes to a stop, I hop out to get my cabin assignment. Finally, I'm in Cabin 5! I clutch my bag and rush down the hill toward Cabin 5, my new home for the week. The week I've eagerly awaited all year long is about to begin!

The heat of the day scorched down. The kind of day that sweat is dripping off of you by the bucketful. I eagerly threw on my swimsuit and made my way down to the cooling pool. The stinging smell of chlorine mixed with splashing and laughter greeted my ears as I approach. Standing in the refreshing water, I watch as others cannonball in.

As the bell rings, it's time to head back to the cabin. I dig out my colorful Sharpies and begin to doodle on the fifty-year old cabin walls, an annual camp tradition. It will be dinner time soon. I wonder who our camp director will catch with their elbows on the table tonight. I love singing the "Elbows on the Table" song and watching the forgetful boys run around the A-Frame as punishment.
