Jake, the dog was at home resting.

    Jake's owners were out at work. 

Jake didn't like being home by himself. 

     He was always bored.

" Ugh, why do I always have to stay inside all day?" 

said Jake. 

Jake looked down at his toys. 

" I play with the same toys every day". Jake said.  

Jake walked over to the window. 

"It's so sunny outside. There has to be something I can do."

Suddenly Jake got an idea.  "Aha!! Maybe Corey will know what do do." Jake said. 

Jake made his way to his friend Corey. 

"Jake!! What are you doing here?" Corey asked. 

"Hi Corey, I was bored at home," Jake said. 

"Oh, your owners aren't home yet?" Corey asked. 

" Nope, I need something to do." Jake said.

" Hmm, we could always go on an adventure?" Corey said

" Adventure? You mean we would leave home?" Jake asked.

" Yeah, it could be so much fun and you won't be bored anymore," Corey said. 

   Jake thought about this for a second.  He wasn't sure if he was ready to leave home. But the idea of going on an adventure made him excited. 

" So what do you say?" Corey asked. 

    Jake looked at Corey and smiled. 

"Let's do it. Let's go on an adventure!!" Jake said. 

       Jake and Corey gathered their things and were on their way.

"So where exactly are we going?" Jake asked

"I don't know but I know it's somewhere cool" Corey said. 

"What about the beach? I always hear my owners talk about the beach." Jake said. 

"To the beach, we go!!" Corey shouted. 

     The two friends started their journey to the beach.

" I can't wait to see the ocean," Corey said. 

"Me too, I can't wait to see how the sand feels," Jake said. 

      The two friends continued chatting away about the beach.  But soon it started to get dark. 

"It's kind of scary in the dark," Corey said. 

"Relax, there's nothing to be scared about," Jake said. 

      Corey didn't tell Jake that he was afraid of the dark. 

"Jake, maybe we should stop and wait till it becomes daytime again," Corey said. 

" Fine, let's just make through this part of the woods." Jake said.

"Look we can stay in that cabin," Jake said. 

" Wait, what if there is someone in there?" Corey asked. 

"Hopefully they are friendly." Jake Joked. 

"If we weren't so far from home, I would have turned back around and gone home," Corey said. 

" Don't be a scaredy-cat," Jake said.

" See, empty. They even left out water for us. Nothing to worry about" Jake said.

"I guess you're right. Well, let's get some rest. We have a long day ahead of us. " Corey said. 

        Corey and Jack stretched out on the rug and tried to go to sleep.
