Chapter 1: The Discovery
“How was your Math test?” asked Sophia. “Great! I got A+!” said Sean. “How was your Morse code test?” “Great! I got A+ too!” said Sophia. Seven-year-old Sophia and 8-year-old Sean were walking away from school, happily telling each other about their tests.

"So how was..." started Sean. "Woah!" Sophia interrupted. "What do you mean, Woah?" asked Sean. He followed Sophia's gaze. "Woah!" said Sean. Before them was a huge wooden door.

Chapter 2: The Door
“When was that door there?” asked Sophia. “I don’t remember that door being there either,” said Sean. “Oh look,” said Sophia. She pointed at the handle. On the handle was a lock.

"Where's the key to unlock the door?" Sean asked. "I don't know," answered Sophia. Suddenly, there was a voice that called, "Sophia!" "Sean!" "Come on Sophia, Uncle Jack is there already!" said Sean. They turned their backs on the door and ran where they just came from. On the road, there was a blue car waiting for them.

They hopped in the car. “So how were your quizzes?” asked Uncle Jack. “BOTH A+!” said Sean and Sophia at the same time. “Wow!” said Uncle Jack. He took out some chocolates from a basket he had in the car and gave them to Sophia and Sean.

“For your hard work,” said Uncle Jack. “Thank you Uncle Jack!” said Sophia and Sean in unison. They happily ate their chocolates as they went home.

Then they said goodbye to Uncle Jack. He then went in the car and drove away.

“Didn’t you notice something odd about that door earlier?” asked Sophia. “Uhhhh, the lock?” asked Sean. “N-O!” said Sophia. “You remember the flowers and the tulip on top of the door?” asked Sophia.

“Yeah, so?” asked Sean. “So then it looked like a face!” Sophia realized.

Chapter 3: Where is Everyone?
“A face?” asked Sean. “Yes!” said Sophia. “Oh right!” said Sean. “So maybe it talks?” asked Sophia. “No way,” said Sean. Then they went in the house.

“Nanny!” called Sophia. Silence. Sean looked at the clock. ”4:00,” said Sean. “Okay, let’s wait,” said Sophia.

4 hours later...
The lights went out. Then the door suddenly opened. Sean and Sophia turned towards the door. A black figure was standing in the doorway.

Sophia screamed. Sean fainted and fell to the floor. Then the black figure said in an evil voice, “Say goodbye to your parents and nanny.” Then he shut the door and the lights went back on.

“Sean, quick let’s get a snack before we leave,” said Sophia. Sean opened his eyes. “Wait, what just happened?” asked Sean.

“There was this black guy in a cloak,” said Sophia. Then he said, “Say goodbye to your parents and nanny.”

If he said “Say goodbye to your parents and nanny” Sophia started... “They must be close by that mysterious guy,” finished Sean, standing up. “Let’s grab a snack,” said Sophia, “so that we carry on with our mission without any interruptions.” “Okay!” said Sean.

They ran to the fruit basket on the table. Sophia and Sean both grabbed a banana because it was fast to eat. While they ate, Sean said, “We better eat quickly. We have to follow that guy. Maybe he will lead us to Mom, Dad and nanny.” “Okay!” said Sophia.

“Hold on,” said Sean. “Let’s still wear our clothes now, since it's good for going out.” “Good idea!” Sophia answered. “ We can already wear our school clothes just in case we take all night finding Mom and Dad, and have no time to change."

"Wait," said Sean. "We're missing something." Then he spotted a belt with a flashlight on the table beside the couch.

"That's what we need!" Sean exclaimed. He got the belt from the table and wore it around his waist. "So are you ready?" asked Sophia. "I'm ready," replied Sean. "I'm ready to go into the night."

Chapter 4: Into the Night
Sophia and Sean stepped out of their house. “So..., what now?” asked Sean. “I don’t know,” Sophia replied.

“The mysterious guy disappeared,” said Sean. “Wait a minute,” said Sophia. “Look at the ground.” There was a scroll with dots and dashes.
“Hey, that’s Morse code!” exclaimed Sean. “Sophia, what does it say? You got A+ on your Morse code test.” "Okay, I'll tell you what it says," said Sophia. "It says solve the equations on the ground.
… - - - .-.. …- . - …. .
. - -.- .- - .. - - - -. … - - - -. - …. .
- - . .-. - - - .. - -. -..
Sean, I'll teach you a letter. - - - is o.""Okay, thanks!" said Sean. “Look!” said Sophia pointing at the ground. On the ground was a scroll.
16 x 2 = ? … - . .- - . … ..-. - - - .-. . - - .- .-. -..
Chapter 5: Math Sentences
On the scroll was a Math sentence. “You got A+ on your Math test, Sean. You’re good at this!” said Sophia. “Okay,” said Sean. “I’ll solve it, but first I need to turn on the flashlight." Sean turned on the flashlight.
16 x 2 = ? … - . .- - . …
..-. - - - .-. . - - .- .-. -..

"To solve this, I'll multiply 10 and 2 first," said Sean. "10 x 2 equals 20. Then we multiply 6 and 2. 6 x 2 equals 12. So 20 + 12 is 32!"

16 x 2 = ?
10 x 2 =20
6 x 2 = 12
20 + 12 = 32
16 x 2 = 32
“Beside it says steps forward,” said Sophia. They took 32 steps forward.
On the ground was another scroll.
24 ÷ 4 = ? … - . .- -. - - - - - - - - …. . .-.. . ..-. -
"24 ÷ 4 equals 6!" said Sean. "Beside it says steps to the left," said Sophia. They went 6 steps to the left.
On the ground was another scroll.
11 + 11 = ? … - . .- - . . . .
..-. - - - .-. .- - .- .-. -..
"11 + 11 equals 22," said Sean. “Beside this one it says steps forward,” said Sophia. They took 22 steps forward.
On the ground was another scroll. On the scroll was this:
- ..- .-. -. .-.. . ..-. -
“It says turn left,” said Sophia. They turned left, then they both gasped.
Chapter 6: That Door Again?
“That’s the same door we saw earlier!” cried Sophia. “So does this mean there is a connection with the mysterious guy and this door?” asked Sean. “I think so,” said Sophia.

“The only way to get through that door is through the lock. Unless you want us to climb over the wall.” said Sophia. “Then that’s too dangerous,” said Sean. It's like the only way in is the lock. But I don't know where the key is."

“I have an idea!” exclaimed Sophia. “Uhhh, hello Mrs. Door how do we get to the other side of you?” “Sophia, doors don’t speak,” said Sean. “Hello, Sophia and Sean, nice to see you again,” somebody said.

“Who said that?” asked Sean. “Me, the door,” said the door. Sean was speechless. “Told ya she speaks,” said Sophia. “But Mrs. Door, are you really a girl and are you married?” asked Sean.

“Yes,” said Mrs. Door. He turned around and looked at Sophia. “But how did you know that the door is a girl and is married?” Sean asked Sophia.

girl?
married?

“Well, the first time we saw her, the flowers on top looked like a face and it had girly colors,” said Sophia. “Besides, she looks like a girl. I know she is married because she looks like she is.”

“Okay?” said Sean. “But…” “No more buts,” said Sophia. “We’re wasting time of saving Mom, Dad, and nanny.” “Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that,” said Sean. “Mrs. Door, how do we get to the other side of you?” Sophia asked Mrs. Door. "You will need the key to unlock it," said Mrs. Door. "The key will only appear if you get the right answer to my Math question."

"So who's going to solve it?" asked Sean. "You, of course!" exclaimed Sophia.

Chapter 7: The Lock
"Me?" asked Sean. "Yes, you!" answered Sophia. "You're an expert at Math.""So what's the question?" asked Sean. "What is 158 + 478?” asked Mrs. Door.

158 + 478 = ?
“Hmmmm, let me think,” said Sean. “100 + 400 is 500. Then 70 + 50 is 120 and 8 + 8 is 16. If you add 500, 120 and 16 you get 636.” “Great job!” said Sophia.

158 + 478 = ?
100 + 400 = 500
70 + 50 = 120
8 + 8 = 16
500 + 120 + 16 = 636
Suddenly, a key appeared in the air. "The key for the lock!" said Sophia.
“After you have unlocked the lock, be careful,” said Mrs. Door. “On the other side of me, strange and creepy things can happen.”

“Okay, I understand,” said Mrs. Door. “But beware for strange things that might happen.” “Thank you for the warning Mrs. Door. We’ll watch out for it,“ said Sophia. “Be especially alert for that mysterious guy,” said Mrs. Door.

“We know, he took away our parents and nanny!” said Sophia. “Well, you must be on your way then,” said Mrs. Door. “You may now get the key, Sean.” Sean stepped forward and got the key from the air. He then put the key in the lock.

Sean pushed open Mrs. Door. Then he and Sophia stepped to the other side of Mrs. Door.
Chapter 8: Follow the Path
Sean closed Mrs. Door. “What now?” asked Sean. “Where do we go from here?” “Wait, look on the ground. There's a scroll with Morse code!” exclaimed Sophia.
. . - . - - - . - . . . - . . - - - . - - - . . . . . . - - . . - - . . . .
Before Sean could ask Sophia what it meant, she said, “It says follow the path.” “So let’s follow the path,” said Sean. They started following the path. After a little while walking, Sophia said, “Wait stop, where should we go now?”

Chapter 9: Which Way?
“What do you mean, which way?” asked Sean. He looked down and saw 3 paths pointing in different directions. He looked at the direction of each path.

There was nothing but hills very far away on each path. It looked like it would take weeks to get there.

“I, I don’t know,” answered Sean. “Wait! Look down!” exclaimed Sophia. In the middle of the three paths was a number bond.

57
13
?
Then in each path was an answer.

44
37
12
“Okay, I know how to solve this,” said Sean. “So 50 - 10 = 40 and 7 - 3 = 4. So the answer is 44!” “ So we go that way,” said Sophia pointing to the path on the left. “Yup, that’s the one!” said Sean. “Let’s go!”
Chapter 10: To the Castle
Sean and Sophia began walking on the path with the number 44. “Do you think we took the right path?” asked Sean. “I mean those hills are far away…”

“Oh, stop worrying,” Sophia interrupted. “How you solved the question was correct.”

57 - 13 = ?
50 - 10 = 40
7 - 3 = 4
40 + 4 = 44 57 - 13 = 44

“But do you think the mysterious guy is hiding our parents and nanny in those hills far away?” asked Sean. “I don’t think he would hide them there,” answered Sophia. “Or at least I doubt it.”

“Then where could they be?” Sean wondered. Then suddenly, a huge castle appeared before them. “Could they be in there?” questioned Sean. “Yes!” exclaimed Sophia. “Absolutely.”

Chapter 11: Into the Castle
They ran towards the castle. They stopped at the gate. “Woah! This is a huge castle!” Sean whispered. “Let’s get in. Quick!” Sophia whispered back. Sean opened the door of the gate and it opened with a creak.

They went through the door, and it closed behind them with a thud. “Yikes!” Sophia whispered. “I have a feeling someone is watching us,” said Sean. “Like the mysterious guy?” Sophia questioned.

“Yup, like him,” said Sean shivering with fright. “Let’s get in before someone sees us. Quick!” Sophia whispered to Sean. Sean opened the door to the castle. Then, they quickly stepped inside.

Chapter 12: Where Are They?
Sean closed the door. “Let’s look for them. Quick!” said Sophia. “No, wait stop,” said Sean. “The mysterious guy could be around so we should be real careful.”

“I promise, I will,” said Sophia. “Let’s go up those stairs,” said Sean. He pointed at some stairs at the far corner of the room. “Okay sure!” answered Sophia.

They climbed up the stairs. When they came to the top, there was a hall with many rooms. “Which room?” asked Sophia. “I don’t know,” answered Sean. “Wait! Look at that door at the end of the hall,” said Sophia. “What about it?” asked Sean. “There’s a sign on the door,” said Sophia.

They both started running to the end of the hall. “Wait! Stop!” Sophia whispered to Sean. “Our footsteps will be heard by the mysterious guy if we run. Let’s tiptoe.” “Oh right! I completely forgot about that,” Sean whispered back. So they tiptoed to the door with the sign. On the sign it said:

Master's
Room
Sophia and Sean heard voices coming from inside the room. The door was slightly open, so they peeked inside. They looked at each other. They were both shocked at what they had seen.

Chapter 13: The Plan
Inside the room was the mysterious guy with their parents and nanny!

“Let us go! Let us be with our children!” their mom cried. “Yes! You are very cruel to separate us from our children!” their dad shouted. Their nanny was sadly working for the mysterious guy.

“We should make a plan,” said Sean. “Okay,” said Sophia. “I’ll be the distraction, and I’ll figure out who the mysterious guy really is."
