In 980 a terrible epidemic raged. One day the little prince went to an old witch to predict his future because in 2 years' time his father told him that he would be the king. So the witch said that he would be a good king and he would be lucky but he would not be able to have children.
Two years later the little prince became the king and the epidemic was over.
But in the year 1003, the king and the queen, who said every day: "If only we had a child!" But they did not have a child for a long time.
One day, in 1004, when the queen was bathing in a spring and dreaming about a child, a frog came out of the water and told her: "Your wish will come true. Before a year passes, you will give birth to your daughter. "
And since frogs are such magical creatures, it was no surprise that before the end of the year the Queen gave birth to a daughter. The child was so beautiful and sweet that the King could not control himself with joy. He prepared a great feast and invited all his friends, family and neighbours. He also invited some fairies to be nice and good for the child. There were thirteen of them in his kingdom, but since the king had only twelve golden plates to eat, one of the fairies had to be skipped. None of the guests were saddened by this, because the thirteenth fairy was cruel and malicious
There was an amazing feast, and when it was over, each of the fairies gave the child a magical gift. One fairy gave her virtue, another beauty, a third riches and so on - with everything in the world that anyone could wish for.
After eleven fairies presented their gifts, the thirteenth one suddenly appeared. She was angry and wanted to show anger that she was not invited to the feast. Without hesitation she cried out in a loud voice:
- When she turns fifteen, the princess stings her spindle and falls dead!
Then without a word she turned around and left the room.
The guests were terrified and the Queen fell on the floor sobbing, but the twelfth fairy, whose wish has still not been expressed, quietly moved forward. Her magic could not remove the curse, but she could ease it, so she said:
"No, your daughter will not die, but she will fall into a deep sleep that will last a hundred years".
But because the twelfth fairy were weakly enchanted, the wishes sometimes did not come true.
Over the years, the promises of the fairies have come true - one by one. The princess became beautiful, modest, nice and wise. Everyone who saw her could not fail to love her.
The king and queen were determined to prevent the curse cast on the princess by the sinister fairy and gave the order to destroy all spindles in the whole kingdom. No one in the kingdom was allowed to tell the princess about the curse that was imposed on her because they did not want her to worry or be sad.
In the morning on her fifteenth birthday, the princess woke up early - excited that she was a year older. She got up so early in the morning that she realized that everyone was still sleeping. The princess was wandering around the corridors, trying to take care of something until the rest of the castle woke up. She wandered all over the place, looking at the rooms and corridors as she liked them, until she finally reached the old tower. She climbed the narrow, winding stairs and reached the small door. The rusty key was stuck in the lock, and when she turned it, the door suddenly opened.
An old woman with a spindle was sitting in the room, laboriously spinning linen. The old woman was so deaf that she never heard the king's order to destroy all spindles."Good morning, Grandma," said the princess, "what are you doing?"
I'm spinning," said the old woman.
- What's the thing that's so funny? - The princess asked, and she took the spindle and also tried to spin.
But she barely touched the spindle when it stabbed her in the finger. At that moment she fell on a bed that was standing close by and lay still in a deep sleep.
The king, queen and servants began their morning routines and during them they also fell asleep. Horses fell asleep in the stable, dogs in the yard, pigeons on the roof and flies on the wall. Even the fire in the hearth went down and fell asleep. The kitchen maid, who was sitting in front of her with a chicken, ready to rip off his feathers, fell asleep. The cook was just in the process of punishing the kitchen boy for the mess he made, but they both fell asleep quickly. The wind stopped and there was not a single leaf on the trees in front of the castle.
A hedge of roses started to grow around the castle. From year to year it grew higher, until finally you could not see the castle asleep. 1000 years passed and the princess woke up by herself but her people were still sleeping. So she ran desperate for help but did not know what happened she thought it was a dream and for unknown reasons they did not want to wake up. In fact, there is 2020 year. But when she walked through the forest she saw as if a giant bird in the sky and she thought she was getting smaller.
But it did not shrink but she only saw some strange carriages without horses that growl loudly and looked at the man in the wagon and asked what it was? And the man, astonished, said it was his car and yelled at her to put on a mask because it is COVID.
And the princess, confused politely, asked what is this COVID? And the man said so:
-Do you have broken away from the Middle Ages?
- And which one of us has the ro-ro - asked the princess
-it is 2020 - the year of the COVID-19 Epidemic - said a man.
At that moment the princess fainted.
She woke up a few hours later.
The doctors looked at her strangely because she was dressed in a medieval sleeping suit.
They asked where she lived and what was her name.
But instead of answering them, she told them that her family needed help, and explained to them what had happened that she had slept for 1000 years. But the doctors didn't believe her and considered her to be crazy and put her under a week's observation because they thought beeing crazy was a new symptom of COVID and were afraid she had COVID. But they went to see where the princess said and saw a huge castle and people sleeping on the ground. At first they thought it was a movie set. but they changed their mind when they remembered the princess' story. So they called the police.
They did not know what to do . After a week the princess left the hospital and the doctors said that unfortunately they do not know how to wake up her people
. A year later she received the Nobel Prize for Literature and Physics and became President of Poland.
